about

After appearing on the scene in 2009, London's O.Children have used their time well. As attentions have been grabbed and appetites whetted, they kept themselves busy in the studio coming up with something special. This autumn sees one of the most highly anticipated albums released on Deadly People, 'O.Children'.

The album is extraordinary, thunderous, epic and heartfelt. It has strange hooks, swirling minimalist guitars and 80s drums. With serious nods to the likes of Bauhaus, Sisters Of Mercy, Joy Division and of course Nick Cave (who wrote the song the band took as their name), O.Children’s self titled debut is something completely out of sync with their contemporaries. The fact that no one in the band was born when their influences were performing makes it all the more special.

Frontman Tobi is like nothing you have ever seen or heard before. Towering at 6 foot 8, he has complete command of the stage; channeling both Grace Jones and Lux Interior with the most extraordinary baritone voice heard this side of 1950. Each band member brings something completely different to the mix; each has a different attitude, fashion and personality.

They’ve sold out venues across the UK, gradually claimed fans at Radio 1 (including Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe and Nick Grimshaw) and played a multitude of amazing summer festivals, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Latitude and Lovebox amongst others. It goes without saying that O.Children have written an album that actually lives up to the critics expectations. Previous singles ‘Dead Disco Dancer’ and ‘Ruins’ sold out on limited edition 7 inch vinyl within a matter of days.

O.Children are Tobi O’Kandi (Vox), Andi Sleath (Drums) Gauthier Ajarrista (Guitar) and Harry James (Bass), all in their (very) early twenties.
